TENNESSEE DROPS EXHIBITION MATCH AT LIPSCOMB

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee volleyball team dropped four of the five sets (21-25, 24-26, 22-25, 23-25, 15-5) exhibition match on the road against the Bisons of Lipscomb University Saturday afternoon.
Junior middle hitter Erica Treiber led the Vols with 17 kills, while senior outside hitter Kanisha Jimenez added 10 kills. Treiber hit a team-best .419, with just four errors in 31 attacks. Alyssa Andreno hit .273, racking up eight kills.
Sophomore setter Sedona Hansen picked up where she left off in 2016, racking up 40 assists to go along with 13 digs for the double-double.
Brooke Schumacher had a team-high 20 digs on defense.
Tennessee closed out the match on a high note, taking the final set 15-5. For the match, the Vols had 55 kills in 158 attacks, 65 digs and 17.5 total team blocks. They finished with a hitting percentage of .203 while holding the Bisons to just .181 hitting.
The Bisons were led by Maddie Phillips, who finished with .429 hitting percentage. Carlyle Nusbaum and Chloe Rogers finished with 13 and 15 kills, respectively. Lipscomb finished the match with 12 service errors, four blocking errors and a .181 hitting percentage.
Tennessee will open the season on Friday, Aug. 25, when they host Western Michigan in the opening day of the Tennessee Classic at 7 p.m. at Thompson-Boling Arena.

- This match was just the fourth-ever meeting between the two teams.
- Treiber (20.5), Jiminez (15.5) and Andreno (12.0) accounted for double-digit points.
- Jiminez had both of the Vols' service aces.
