Cousins Named to TDS Team of the Week

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee redshirt sophomore Katie Cousins was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week after helping the Vols to an undefeated conclusion to non-conference play.

The Vols are now 8-0-0 after last week's 1-0 victory at Bucknell and the 3-1 home win against Virginia Tech, a team receiving votes in the United Coaches top 25 poll.

Cousins logged her first goal of the season in the victory over Virginia Tech, putting the ball in the net for a 2-0 lead after junior Khadija Shaw ricocheted shots off the post and crossbar.

A native of Forest, Virginia, Cousins is back on the field for the Vols this season after missing last year because of her participation with Team USA at the FIFA U-20 World Cup. She was on the SEC All-Freshman Team in 2015.

Tennessee, also receiving top 25 poll votes, opens SEC play Sunday against Kentucky (4-4-0) at 6 p.m. at Regal Soccer Stadium. Admission is free. The game will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU.
