LEWISBURG, Pa. — Redshirt junior Anna Bialczak scored midway through the second half to lift the Tennessee soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Bucknell on Thursday at Emmitt Varsity Soccer Field.
The Vols extended their winning record to 7-0, continuing the best start to a season in program history. Bucknell fell to 1-5.
Strong winds and a deluge of rain put a damper on play during much of the first half. The weather cleared during the second half as the Vols stepped up their offensive intensity.
Tennessee finally broke through on the scoreboard when Bialczak scored in a scramble in the middle off a pass from freshman McKinley Burkett in the 73rd minute.
The Vols conclude non-conference competition Sunday, hosting Virginia Tech at 6 p.m. It will be aired on ESPNU, the Vols' first appearance on national television this season. Both teams are receiving votes in the United Coaches top 25 national poll.
