Three UT Volleyball Matches Cancelled Due to Threat of Hurricane Irma
September 08, 2017 | Volleyball
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Three Tennessee volleyball matches scheduled to be played in Florida and Georgia this weekend have been canceled due to the pending threat of Hurricane Irma and logistical challenges resulting from the storm.
The Vols were scheduled to play Florida State Friday at 6 p.m. ET before facing Florida A&M on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. Tennessee's scheduled match at Kennesaw State on Sunday also has been canceled.
No matches will be rescheduled.
Due to the uncertain path of Irma (currently a category 4 hurricane with winds exceeding 150 mph), many universities throughout the Southeast have cancelled some or all athletic events scheduled on campus this weekend. The state of Florida is currently under a government-issued State of Emergency and is dedicating all resources to evacuation efforts.
