Former University of Tennessee Volunteers catcher Hal Bibee Jr. signed a free agent deal with the Colorado Rockies. The Knoxville, Tenn., native reports on Friday to the Casper Rockies, a rookie-level club, in the Pioneer League.
Bibee established career highs in every hitting category this past season, batting .312 with 12 doubles, five home runs and 35 RBI. The starting catcher for the Vols set a school record for fielding percentage by a catcher at .994, making only two errors while committing a Southeastern Conference-low three passed balls. He was also instrumental in helping the pitching staff record the third fewest wild pitches at 30.
Bibee brings the number of former Tennessee Volunteers playing professional baseball to 21 as of June 18. Listed below is a complete list of those players.
