The Tennessee baseball team will close it fall practice season with an Orange & White intrasquad game Friday at 6 p.m. at Lindsey Nelson Stadium. Admission to the game is free, and fans in attendance will get their first glimpse of the 2007 Diamond Vols in a game-like setting.
Tennessee's roster is highlighted by 10 returning letterwinners, including catcher and National Player of the Year Candidate J.P. Arencibia. The 2007 Vols also boast a bevy of All-America and All-SEC hopefuls, including junior outfielder Julio Borbon, junior pitcher James Adkins, senior pitcher Craig Cobb and sophomore shortstop Tony Delmonico.
Joining the Vols veterans is a consensus top-20 crop of newcomers. Friday's game gives the UT faithful an opportunity to see this talented group of newcomers in action for the first time. One player making his highly anticipated debut is Knoxville native Jeff Lockwood, who starred at Halls High School the past four seasons. Lockwood is slated to see time both on the mound and in the batter's box Friday.
Another highlight to Friday's event is an autograph session featuring a group of former Vols who played on the 2005 College World Series team and are now active in minor-league baseball.
