GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Junior Tori Lamp placed fifth in the finals of the platform competition Saturday evening at the AT&T National Diving Championships.
Lamp finished her five-dive list with a score of 336.55.
After two good opening dives, Lamp slipped down the leaderboard after posting a 33.60 on her third dive. She made up for the score on her last two dive, scoring a 88.00 on her final dive.
"I was really proud of Tori's effort today in what was a very close competition," Tennessee diving coach Dave Parrington said. "Her first two dives were excellent. After missing on her second dive she got back up to fifth with a fantastic last dive."
With her combined score through the three rounds, Lamp qualified to represent the United States in FINA Grand Prix international diving events next year.
"Of course our goal coming in was trying to win the title, but our other goal was to get qualified for the Grand Prix, so mission accomplished in that regard," Parrington said.
