Swim & Dive Record Seven Top-10 Performances in Season Opener

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee concluded its first home meet of the season with an impressive showing, notching seven top 10 performances at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center.
Tennessee hosted Louisville and Auburn in a double dual meet on Thursday, with the men's and women's sides earning wins over Auburn. The Vols and Lady Vols could not sweep the competition, falling in their match-ups against Louisville.
Bennett Greene continued his strong start to the season with a pair of wins in the men's 1-meter and 3-meter events. Greene improved on his seventh-best overall score in program history in the 1-meter, eclipsing the 400-mark for the first time in his career with a 400.80. He put up a 402.40 in the 3-meter competition en route to his second win of the day, joined by Frazer Tavener in second place with a 382.55.
Desharne Bent-Ashmeil stepped up on the women's side, earning her first collegiate win in the 3-meter springboard. Ashmeil finished the competition with a 341.20, the sixth-best score in program history.
Gui Caribe picked up another trio of wins on the day, taking both the 50 and 100 Free yet again. Caribe also helped the men's 400 Freestyle relay team to the victory, joined by Nikoli Blackman, Pedro Sansone, and Kamal Muhammad to put up the fifth-best time in program history with a 2:48.02. Muhammad added a solo win in the 100 Fly, finishing the event with a time of 46.10.
The women's 400 Freestyle Relay team also notched a top ten time on the day. The group of Amelia Mason, Emily Armen, Juliana Bocska, and Camille Spink finished with a 3:11.01, the fourth-best all-time for the Lady Vols.
Ella Jansen earned three wins in the double dual, with victories in the 200 Free, 200 IM, and 500 Free. Jansen's times in both the 200 Free (1:43.33) and 200 IM (1:56.25) allowed the sophomore to move her way up to ninth and tenth in the record books in both events.
The women's 200 Medley Relay team also notched the ninth-best time in school history, with the team of Jillian Crooks, Emelie Fast, Emily Brown, and Camile Spink finishing with a 1:53.22. Emily Brown added three other podium finishes to her day, with a win in the 200 Fly in a time of 1:55.33. Brown finished the competition with a second place finish in the 200 IM (1:57.13) and a third place in the 500 Free (4:45.28).
Up next, Tennessee has a break before hosting the inaugural CSCAA Power 4 Dual Meet Challenge from Nov. 21-23 and the UT Diving Invitational Nov. 20-22.

- Koby Bujak earned the home victory in the 500 Free, with the Australian finishing the event at 4:19.31.
- Martin Espernberger earned another win in the 200 Fly, with the former Olympian finishing strong at 1:42.01.
- Nikoli added to his day with a second and third place finish of his own. Blackman finished in second place in the 100 Free of 42.39, with his third place finish coming in the 200 Free with a time of 1:32.96.
- Gabe Nunziata made his Tennessee home debut, notching a pair of second place finishes in the 100 and 200 Breast.
- Ben Bricca picked up his top three finish in the 100 Backstroke, with a third place finish in the event coming in at 46.89.
- Mac Clark picked up a third place finish in his first home meet of his career, finishing the 1000 Free with a time of 9:07.31.
Women's Results
- Camille Spink earned herself a pair of podium finishes on Thursday, with the junior taking the win in the 100 Free. Spink earned her other solo podium in the 50 Free, taking second place with a time of 21.30
- Sophie Brison picked up the win in the 200 Back, with the junior finishing in a time of 1:55.68
- Emilie Fast earned the win in the 100 Breast, finishing the event with a time of 59.54.
- Alyssa Claborn finished in third place in the 100 Back with a time of 52.51 in her first home meet of her career.
