Coming off a successful summer on the national stage, senior Kelsey Floyd was named to the USA Swimming National Team on Friday.
Head coach Matt Kredich and associate coach Tyler Fenwick were named on the national team coaching list as well.
Floyd enjoyed a breakout junior season for the Lady Vols and followed that up by proving she was among the best in the country in the butterfly. She reached the A final in both the 100- and 200-meter butterfly at the USA Olympic Swimming Trials in June. Last month, she won the 200 butterfly at the U.S. Open Swimming Championships in 2 minutes, 8.74 seconds, which was the third-fastest time by an American in 2012 and was a top-20 time in the world. She also earned silver in the 100 butterfly.
In addition to being named to USA Swimming's national team, Floyd was also among those added to the American roster for the 2013 World University Games, which will be held next summer in Russia.
Kredich, entering his first year as the coach of the newly combined men's and women's program at Tennessee, had three current or former Lady Vols reach finals at the USA Olympic Trials: Floyd, Jenny Connolly and Christine Magnuson.
Last season, he led the women's team to one of its best seasons in program history as the Lady Vols finished second in the Southeastern Conference and seventh at the NCAA Championships.
Fenwick is in his first season as associate coach for Tennessee, having previously served as the Men's National Team Coach for the Mission Viejo Nadadores, a premier Gold Medal club team in California. Two of his junior swimmers were named to the team
