- As a sophomore in 2012-13, he was selected as the PrepXtra District 4-AA Newcomer of the Year.
- Played AAU basketball with the Tennessee Bobcats program, coached by Kevin Feltner.
- Joined the track and field team as a senior and took naturally to the jumps; he was the bronze medalist in the long jump at the Class A-AA state championships.
- Won both the long jump (21.675) and the high jump (6.6.0) at the 2015 Class A-AA East Sectional.
- His personal-best high jump was a leap of 6-6.0, while his personal-best long jump was 22.675 (seventh best in the state).
